Kazakhstan national park fee calculator
Pick a protected area, the number of people and days and your transport: the calculator adds up the lines of the order exactly as they are written and shows the formula in MCI and the total in tenge.
Verified: 2026-10

How it is calculated
Visitor tariffs for protected areas are set not in tenge but as fractions of the Monthly Calculation Index (MCI). For each area the order has two independent lines:
- per person — sanitation and site services “per person per day”;
- per vehicle — separate rates for motorcycles, cars, minibuses and buses, per entry.
So for any area under Order No. 232:
total = per-person rate × people × days + vehicle rate × entries, all in MCI, multiplied by the current year’s MCI.
The less obvious consequence: the longer the trip, the smaller the vehicle’s share. The entry is paid once while the daily per-person charges add up. At Charyn’s rates, for two people on a one-day visit the car is more than half the total; for four people over two days it is less than a third.
Burabay works differently
Burabay’s tariffs are set not by the Ministry of Ecology but by the Presidential Property Management Department, in Order No. 04/276:
- there is no per-person daily line;
- vehicles pay for each day of the stay;
- on weekends and public holidays from 1 May to 30 September rates rise: a car 0.4 MCI instead of 0.3, a minibus 1.5 instead of 1, buses 2.5 and 3.5 instead of 2 and 3.

Numbers across all areas
- The per-person charge ranges from 0.1 to 0.2 MCI a day: 0.2 in 18 areas, 0.15 in 7, 0.1 in 3.
- The most expensive car entry is Altyn-Emel: 0.9 MCI.
- The cheapest is 0.3 MCI, shared by 6 areas.
All 29 rows side by side, sortable and comparable, are on the protected area comparison page.
What the calculator leaves out
- Discounts. Concession categories are set separately and we have not checked them for every area. For Charyn they are covered on the prices page.
- Other park services such as parking, guides, yurts or shuttle rides — each area has its own list: protected area services.
- Permits for the border zone if your route enters it.
